What are types of Questionnaire?
A Questionnaire is a set of written questions that the respondent in turn answers and there are two types of resolution that are either restricted or free. The resolution is one of the most important data collection tools used in research and academic studies, where the idea of resolution is based on the collection of information on people's conditions, inclinations, trends and desires, and the resolution is of great importance compared to other data collection tools such as interviews. The observation despite the criticism it is exposed to is that it is economical in effort and time.
How to prepare a Questionnaire in scientific research?
The procedures for preparing the Questionnaire are scientific research:
Determining the nature of the information and data required: information and data are determined according to the objectives and hypotheses of scientific research, where the researcher divides the subject into a set of basic elements, and arranges them, and in this light develops a preliminary conception of the Questionnaire form.
Identification of the sample of the study: a group of examiners that represent the study community, and that sample must clarify the characteristics of the subject of scientific research, for example in the case of the study of the problem of delay in speech in children.
Questionnaire design: After the previous stages, the researcher formulates the questions, taking into account that the questions are coherent and clear for the testers, while moving away from questions with complex combinations, as well as embarrassing personal questions that the examiners may avoid answering.
Arbitration of the Questionnaire in scientific research: in order to present the Questionnaire form to scientific experts, to express an opinion on its effectiveness in obtaining the information that the scientific researcher wishes to collect, and this is by comparing the subject of scientific research with the questions posed by the researcher in the form The Questionnaire.
Testing and experimenting with the Questionnaire: Although all the above steps have been taken, the scientific researcher should test the Questionnaire on part of the sample to make sure that it is free of errors.
The final procedure of the Questionnaire: the final stage, where the researcher or the learner submits the Questionnaire forms to the examiners, and then collects them.
Types of Questionnaire
There are different types of Questionnaires, where the types of Questionnaires relate to the data needed to be collected, however the following are the most common types of Questionnaire:
- The first types of Questionnaire is the closed Questionnaire: which is the questions that are specific answers such as yes or no.
- The second types of Questionnaire is the Open Questionnaire: The answer is not specified, i.e. the answer is openly left to express an opinion.
- The third types of Questionnaire is the Open Closed Questionnaire: This type needs some questions specific answers and others to open answers.
Questionnaire components
There are different Questionnaire components, these Questionnaire components relate to the nature of the data to be collected, however, Questionnaire components usually can be grouped in similar Questionnaire components, the following are the key Questionnaire components include:
- Of the Questionnaire components is the basic data of the testers: name, age, gender, job... And so on.
- Of the Questionnaire components is the Question answering guidelines: The researcher sets out a set of guidelines that show the testers how to answer Questionnaire questions.
- Of the Questionnaire components is the Questionnaire questions: This is the set of questions that the researcher writes in the form, whatever the nature of the form, and asks the testers to answer them.
Questionnaire design
It is important to know that the effort to a strong Questionnaire design in terms of the questions set and the size and form of output will inevitably give data that can be used to make a specific decision on that subject to be studied. It is important to the Questionnaire design in stages, starting with identifying the things that will be tested and ending with the extraction of results. Each stage of the Questionnaire design must be designed with great care because the end result of the Questionnaire design depends on the coherence of all stages, and although the method of collecting data through the Questionnaire is the cheapest method, it may be costly in terms of the Questionnaire design and extracting the results.
There are two important elements in the Questionnaire design:
1. Setting the objectives of the Questionnaire.
2. Write the Questionnaire.
Online Questionnaire
An online Questionnaire is one of the methods that can be used to distribute Questionnaires. Often the online Questionnaire is published on a website, and the online Questionnaire is characterized as a very fast way to display information to the visitor or the target of the Questionnaire and obtain answers from it in a short period.
A traditional Questionnaire often requires that the participant of the traditional Questionnaire make some effort to return the traditional Questionnaire to the traditional respondent after completing the traditional Questionnaire, whether by faxing or e-mailing the traditional Questionnaire to the author of the traditional Questionnaire. In addition, the traditional Questionnaire often takes much longer than the publication of the online Questionnaire.
Benefits of the online Questionnaire
There are a number of benefits to using the online Questionnaire, including:
- Easy and fast filling in the Questionnaire.
- Ease and speed of obtaining the result.
- Lower cost than traditional Questionnaire.
- Ease of publishing the online Questionnaire, as it is a link that can be published easily.
Some of the points that the researcher should consider when you want to create and publish the online Questionnaire are:
- Confidentiality of information: If the online Questionnaire contains any confidential and private information, you should take this confidentiality into account and make sure that the site is difficult or not to be hacked.
- Hosting the online Questionnaire: Will you host an online Questionnaire on your personal site and do you have the necessary resources for it from space, speed and others?
- Will you make and publish your online Questionnaire through a specialized website that asks you to pay some money for this service in exchange for some analytical and other features?
- Are you sure that the website you will host the online Questionnaire is guaranteed? If it is not guaranteed, some users may try to access the site and in the absence of the survey may change their mind about participating in the Questionnaire. This point is often not to worry about if the online Questionnaire is posted on the website of a company specialized in creating and hosting an online Questionnaire.
