تعتبر الهندسة الطبية إحدى مجالات دراسة هندسة الطبّ الحيويّ ولا سيما بالترابط مع علم المفاهيم التكنولوجيّة، حيث تهدف الهندسة الطبية إلى تطوير المعدّات وكذلك الأجهزة الضرورية لتقديم الرعاية الصحيّة، حيث تدمج كل من العلوم الفيزيائيّة، وكذلك الكيميائيّة، والحاسوبيّة، والرياضيّات، ومبادئ الهندسة، وذلك من أجل دراسة علم الأحياء، والطب، والسلوك، والصحة، وزراعة الأعضاء. من هنا يمكن القول بأن الهدف الأساسي للهندسة الطبية هو الوقاية من الأمراض وكذلك تشخيصها وبالتالي علاجها، وذلك من أجل إعادة تأهيل المريض وتحسين صحته، كما أنّ تخصّص الهندسة الطبيّة يأتي في مقدمة الثورة الطبيّة، ويتمّ تحقيق تقدّمها من خلال أنشطة متعدّدة التخصصات التي من شأنها أن تدمج العلوم الأخرى بها مع المبادئ الهندسيّة. لذلك وجب علينا بأن نقوم بتجميع أهم ولا سيما أحدث عناوين الرسائل العلمية (ماجستير- دكتوراه) التي تتناول مواضيعًا متعلقة في تخصص الهندسة الطبية.
