What are the weaknesses of qualitative research?

 Qualitative research

The description of quantitative research is relatively easy because there is general agreement among its practitioners on the principles and characteristics of this approach. But this is not the case with qualitative research.  Qualitative research is difficult to define, and qualitative research does not have its own theory or model. Qualitative research also has no practices or methods for it entirely alone. Qualitative research means many things to many people.

Qualitative research is in fact a thriving discipline, and there are a range of fundamental features that characterize the rigorously implemented qualitative study.

Subsequent years saw an explosion of texts on qualitative approach, reflecting a growing interest in the qualitative curriculum across all disciplines of social sciences. Accordingly, applied language science provided an equally qualitative approach.

the impact of qualitative research in applied linguistics has been profound. The basic quantitative areas, and many key areas of applied linguistics, are being driven by qualitative research.

The main characteristics of qualitative research

Qualitative research literature contains many detailed summaries of the basic features of qualitative investigation.

  1. Emerging research design.
  2. Nature of qualitative data: Qualitative research works with a wide range of data. This is because most qualitative analysis is done with words. the common goal of all kinds of different qualitative approach is to understand a set of meanings in the phenomena observed.
  3. Characteristics of the research environment: Qualitative research is carried out in the natural environment.
  4. Meaning from within: Qualitative research is concerned with individuals' own opinions, experiences and feelings. The basic principle of qualitative research is that human behavior is based on the meanings that people attribute to attitudes.
  5. Small sample size: Well-conducted qualitative research requires intensive work, so qualitative studies usually have to use small participant samples.
  6. Interpretive analysis: Qualitative research is primarily explaining. Accordingly, the researcher's values, personal history and position on the characteristics of a specific research study become in qualitative research.

 Weaknesses in qualitative research

In the literature, there are usually two types of criticisms of qualitative research. The first consists of quantitatively motivated complaints about certain aspects of qualitative research. The second includes issues raised by the qualitative researchers themselves.

  • Sample size and generalization.
  • The role of the researcher.
  • Lack of systematic rigor.
  • Theories are too complex or too narrow.
  • Time-consuming and intensive.

 Scientific research

The urbanization and progress of nations is measured by the extent of interest in , and research says that the development of is in directly proportion to the progress of peoples

Definition of Scientific research

Scientific research is defined as: a set of regular procedures adopted by the researcher or scholar, in order to identify all aspects related to a scientific topic or problem, and the ultimate goal is to solve this problem.

 The importance of Scientific research

The importance of Scientific research for the learner: Scientific research refines the skills of the learner, and learns a lot of information.

The importance of Scientific research for community life: the development of society in the priorities of Scientific research is the general goal; one of the most prominent words that has been said about Scientific research is that it is the arm of society that does not involve it.

 Steps to prepare Scientific research

  • The nature of the problem of Scientific research.
  • Note the introduction of Scientific research.
  • Objectives of Scientific research.
  • Questions or hypotheses of Scientific research.
  • Deriving information related to Scientific research.
  • Choosing the scientific method of research.
  • Writing the body of Scientific research.
  • Recording the results of Scientific research.
  • Recommendations suggested.
  • Conclusion of Scientific research.

 Qualitative approach

The qualitative approach is related to research based on qualitative data, and the qualitative approach of Scientific research methods requires that the researcher have the ability to link all points of view. Qualitative approach: is a type of Scientific research that depends on the study of human behavior and attitudes.

By definition, the qualitative approach is Scientific research based on qualitative data, in which the researcher provides comprehensive explanations for the problem of Scientific research.

The qualitative approach is used in many areas, and the qualitative approach is a new type of Scientific research curriculum, often used in the social and psychological sciences, and all related to human activity at the level of society.

 Qualitative analysis

The process of qualitative analysis begins with the beginning of the collection of scientific material.

Uses of qualitative analysis methods:

  • Qualitative analysis is used in experimental studies.
  • Qualitative analysis is also used to calculate special criteria.
  • Special qualitative analysis is used to read and evaluate research studies.

The importance of qualitative analysis:

The qualitative analysis process aims to understand the researcher's implications, and at first glance it may seem difficult to qualitative analysis, but those with experience and those familiar with the problem of research or subject find in collecting a large amount of data a huge wealth towards starting to the intellectual and creative depth, Thus, the hoped-for results and the answers to the assumptions of Scientific research are reached.

 Thematic analysis

Thematic analysis is one of the methods used to qualitative analysis data. Thematic analysis may be done by focusing on the commonalities between the data.

Why thematic analysis?

For new people in the field of qualitative research, thematic analysis is the entry gateway for qualitative research. Where thematic analysis explains coding mechanisms and systematically qualitative analysis data. Thematic analysis involves identifying the themes within the data. That said, in thematic analysis, the data can be easily understood and analyzed.
