When the researchers select the proposal topic, they should classify the wide area of study and make a list of all probable topics. The researchers may also have an idea of what they want to do, but the researchers examine all potentials before the choice of the research topic. Ask yourself why do I want to study this topic?

3.     Ask yourself whether your topic is manageable? You should ensure that your proposal topic is not too large, nor too small.

4.     The next question is: Am I qualified to research this topic and does the University have the necessary facilities? There are several aspects to this question. First, is there anyone in your field/Department with adequate proficiency to promote your project and does the library have efficient resources?

5.     Ask yourself if this topic is reasonable? You will have to decide whether or not the topic you are suggesting is handy within the time-frame. Your supervisor will be able to counsel you on this.

6.     Listen to others' ideas, it is your choice if you use them or not. It is fairly probable that the proposal topic of the research will change over the time, mainly in the last stages before submission of the dissertation.

7.     It is constantly a great idea to produce several possible research questions and then select the best one as each research question has strengths and flaws.

8.     Once you and your supervisor have agreed on the research area, proposal topic, question, and problem as well as the most appropriate research method to complete the research project, you can finish your research proposal.
